Julia MacDonald

Environmental Science BSc (HONS), Certified Birth and Post Partum Doula (Wise Woman Way of Birth  July 2015), Post Natal Doula (Mother Me Newborn Care Inc. May 2015)

My journey to the birth world has been one adventure after another. I started my education in Environmental Science which developed my love of trees, books, and asking questions; but did not inspire me to start a career in Environmental Science. Instead I chose to travel and after seeing my first mountain in Kananaskis, Alberta, I vowed to never live apart from them again.

And I never have. 3 years in Alberta and then discovering the oasis of North Vancouver (which is home, by the way) I get to spend my spare time climbing mountains and playing in rainforests.

I bring to my clients an unwavering belief that birth is a perfectly designed process.  Although I completed my Doula training in July 2015, I have been a birth enthusiast since the age of 13 when my sister Sarah was born. Since my birth doula training I have taken additional courses in post partum support work, and am currently working on my Hypnodoula course as well as my Breastfeeding Counsellor certification (anticipated completion date early 2017)

My views on birth and the adventure of motherhood is that instinctively, we as women know how to do it. My desire is to teach women how to trust their bodies, and to let go of their fear during this transformational journey.
